They have seen mountain lions there. I finished the ride about 2:30 pm. My only negative comment would be that there are a few short segments of the trail that are deeply rutted, and there is a short section (close to the Dauphin end) that is composed of obnoxiously large pebbles. Trails Overall this is a good trail for bicycling, but off leash dogs and the stone dust trail badly hurt its rating. We rode east to the reservoir and back to the trailhead first, which was beautifully wooded, had a stream visible from the trail at times, and a relatively smooth surface. Well maintained good ride for a beginner and as you grow.

WebThe Holliston Rail Trail is part of a larger Trail system known as the Upper Charles Trail (UCT). I did this trail on Saturday of Memorial Day week end, it was in the med to high 70s and it was sunny on my trip form West to East and partly cloudy on my trip back. Only a matter of time where these coarse gravel fill-ins will eventually smooth out. Endpoint. The best times to visit this trail are April through November.

Upper Charles River Reservation Surfaced with a crushed stone aggregate, the trail also features an 800-foot boardwalk and is accessible for users on foot or on wheels (non-motorized, of course). However, this deteriorates to a narrower track, heavier and sometimes loose gravel with stony patches and plenty of branches down on the trail to dodge. UPPER CHARLES TRAIL My husband turned to point to the location behind us when the lion once again poked his head out, and then very slowly walked across the trail, then turned northeast and walked away from us to find a good spot to jump up the rocks to the other side of the trail.
